Surabaya, 1 December 2025 – PT Sentral Lab Genetik, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Jawa Timur, organized a seminar and workshop entitled “Accurate and Efficient Cell Quantification to Support Laboratory Research”. This event was designed to support the improvement of research quality and laboratory-based learning in the fields of medicine and biomedical sciences, particularly through the application of precise and efficient cell analysis methods aligned with modern laboratory needs.
The event commenced with an opening remark delivered by Prof. dr. Hj. Rika Yuliwulandari, M.Hlt.Sc., Sp.KKLP, M. MB, Ph.D., Subsp. FOMC, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UPN. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of appropriate laboratory technologies in ensuring data validity and supporting high-quality research outcomes. She also highlighted the value of collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners in fostering a sustainable research ecosystem.
The first scientific session was presented by dr. Riana Retno Widiastuty, M.Sc., Sp.PK, who discussed the critical role of cell quantification in various laboratory research applications. She explained that accurate measurement of cell concentration and viability is essential for ensuring reliable and reproducible results, particularly in cell culture studies, toxicity testing, and broader biomedical research.
The technology application session was delivered by Mutia Balqis, S.Si, Application Manager at PT. Sentral Lab Genetik. In this session, EVE™ Plus Automated Cell Counter from NanoEntek was introduced as a practical solution for routine cell quantification in laboratory settings. EVE™ Plus can perform automated cell counting and viability analysis in less than one minute per sample, using a minimal sample volume of approximately 10 µL. The system supports cell concentration measurements of up to 10⁷ cells/mL and provides results in the form of total cell count, viability percentage, and real-time cell images. By utilizing automated image-based analysis, EVE™ Plus helps reduce user subjectivity and improve data consistency, making it highly suitable for research and teaching laboratories that require both efficiency and reliability.
Following the presentation session, the event continued with a hands-on workshop, where participants were given the opportunity to operate the EVE™ Plus system directly. During this practical session, participants observed the complete workflow of cell quantification, from sample preparation to data interpretation, and discussed how the system can be applied in daily laboratory research activities.
Appreciation and Future Collaboration
PT Sentral Lab Genetik extends its sincere appreciation to the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Jawa Timur, for the collaboration and opportunity to jointly organize this seminar and workshop. It is hoped that this activity will provide practical value for participants. Moving forward, PT Sentral Lab Genetik looks forward to continuing and expanding its collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, UPN, in supporting education, research activities, and the adoption of relevant laboratory technologies in Indonesia.
