Surabaya, December 2nd, 2025 — Advancements in molecular biology technology demand a deeper understanding of DNA analysis methods that are rapid, accurate, and applicable in real laboratory settings. In collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran Jawa Timur, PT Sentral Lab Genetik supported the organization of a seminar and workshop entitled “Application of Real-Time PCR Technology for Rapid and Accurate DNA Analysis.”
The event opened with a welcoming address by Prof. dr. Hj. Rika Yuliwulandari, M.Hlt.Sc., Sp.KKLP, M. MB, Ph.D., Subsp. FOMC, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, who emphasized the importance of mastering molecular technologies to support academic activities, research, and the advancement of medical science. In her remarks, she also expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of the participants and the presence of external stakeholders who contributed to the success of this scientific event.
The first scientific session was delivered by dr. Amik Yuliati, Sp.OG, an obstetrics and gynaecology specialist with a focus on women’s health and molecular approaches. In her presentation entitled “Introduction to HPV and the Importance of Molecular Analysis in Research,” dr. Amik discussed the basic biology of Human Papillomavirus (HPV), its transmission mechanisms, and its role as a major causative factor of cervical cancer. She highlighted that not all HPV infections are the same, making molecular methods capable of identifying specific viral types essential. This session provided important insights into the role of molecular technology in early detection, epidemiological research, and risk-based prevention strategies.
The following session was presented by Application Manager of PT. Sentral Lab Genetik, Mutia Balqis, S.Si, who discussed the practical application of real-time PCR for HPV analysis. In this session, participants were introduced to HPV detection using PCR kits from Vazyme, which enable specific and sensitive identification of HPV types 16 and 18, as well as other HPV types. The analysis was performed using the FastGene qFYR Real-Time PCR System from Nippon Genetics Europe. Featuring a 96-well gradient thermal block, a ramp rate of up to 6 °C per second, and 4+1 fluorescence channels, the qFYR system supports fast, stable, and efficient multiplex real-time PCR analysis.
Participants were then guided through a comprehensive hands-on workshop, allowing them to directly experience the real-time PCR workflow. The practical session covered sample preparation, DNA extraction, reagent setup, plate configuration, and data analysis using real-time PCR software, including proper interpretation of results for HPV research.
Appreciation and Future Collaboration
PT Sentral Lab Genetik extends its sincere appreciation to the Faculty of Medicine, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, for the opportunity to contribute to this scientific activity. Gratitude is also expressed to all speakers, participants, and invited guests from various institutions who actively took part in the event. It is hoped that this collaboration will continue to grow in the future, supporting the advancement of education and molecular biology research in Indonesia.
